In 1999, Penistone Paramount, one of the last remaining community cinemas in the country, became home to the original splendour of a 1930s cinema organ. Originally built for a Birmingham cinema, the Compton organ console and its chamber of pipes, whistles and drums was obtained by a local enthusiast from private ownership.
This is the story of a local cinema struggling to thrive in the face of fierce compeition and the hard work and dedication of a team of enthusiasts prepared to save the organ from extinction.
